Online format and new CD-ROM edition of Synchrotron multimedia encyclopediaNanopolis, the e-collaborative multimedia producer exclusively dedicated to nano-bio-technology, has announced the release of the new online format and third CD-ROM edition of its “Exploring Matter with Synchrotron Light” multimedia encyclopedia. The Synchrotron encyclopedia comprising of over 600 multimedia pages was the first volume of the Nanopolis series and it was widely recognized by specialized entities. The software was thoroughly analyzed and approved by world renowned specialists in the field. The previous two editions have demonstrated to teachers and users that the Synchrotron Light CD-ROM meets the criteria of pedagogical quality, pertinence in usage and simplicity. Nanopolis has decided to convert the whole Synchrotron multimedia encyclopedia into an online accessible and downloadable application format, adding the latest information regarding Synchrotron facilities around the world. This project is within the framework of the main Nanopolis objective for 2008: the launch of the Online Visual Course Generator which will be integrated to the Online Multimedia Library, a service very good accepted within the academic environment.
Highlights of “Exploring Matter with Synchrotron Light” - The encyclopedia is structured in five main sections: Light & Matter, Technology, Methods, Applications and Facilities.
- The 1st edition was released in 2001, 2nd edition in 2004 and the 3rd and online edition will be released in April 2008.
- "Exploring Matter with Synchrotron Light" is the first and only multimedia encyclopedia dedicated to the world of synchrotronics.
- Prizes received: IAMS (International Association for Media in Science) prize for multimedia (2001), and the logo "R.I.P." (known as "Reconnu d'intérêt pédagogique) by the French Ministry of National Education, (2003).
